Colour Workshop - Autumn 2020

Colour Workshop - Autumn 2020

£72.00

Duration:

Six weeks

Dates:

Thursdays, 17th September - 22nd October

Time:

10am - 1pm

Location:

Online via Zoom. (see details below)

Materials:

You will need soft pastels and paints (oil or acrylic). You don’t need a huge range, but at the very least you will need red, yellow, blue, black and white. If you have more than this then great, especially if you have a variety of warm and cool colours (we’ll learn more about these during the course). If you have oil pastels you can also incorporate these if you would like. It’s important to choose materials you feel reasonably comfortable with so you can focus on the colour rather than wrestling with the materials. You will also need a robust surface to work on (not newsprint) such as cartridge paper, cardboard, canvas or board. If you are investing in materials, then most of the ones I buy for my regular Life Class are from Jackson’s Art.

Explore colour! Effective use of colour brings your work to life, making it sing. During this six week course you will experiment with colour through a series of freeing exercises designed to push you outside of the confides of colouring in. We will tackle complimentary colours, mixing, expression and creating depth. Always working from observation to encourage you to really see the colours around you and to find your own relationship with colour. We’ll use a variety of mediums and materials, making this a great opportunity to learn through experimentation and enjoyment. As always the critique is individually focused with no “right" or “wrong” but rather a goal of individual development and original expression.

How it works:

I email you the brief and a link to our Zoom meetings a day or so ahead. At the beginning of the session we meet to discuss the brief. You then go off and create your colourful work and upload it to my google drive. We meet again towards the end to critique everyones work.

If for any reason you can’t make the Zoom meetings then you are welcome to call or email me another time, and of course during the two hours if you need feedback on your work while you draw.
