New - Painting Group
16 September - 25 November | Fridays | 28 October half term
1:30pm - 3:30pm | £265 ten week term
Now in its second term, this is a small painting group for those with some experience…
-
… Working from observation, sketches, studies and imagination we will explore a variety of ways to develop your painting practice. From colour to mark making, each term the group is given a project to hang their ideas on and encouraged to delve deeply into this, investigating with paint, collage and drawing, and really pushing a subject to its limits. With no set universal outcome the focus is on the journey of personal development and individual expression, with an emphasis on evolving your own painterly language and moving your work forward.

LIFE CLASS
16 September - 25 November | Fridays | 28 October half term
10am - 12:30pm | £275 ten week term
Drawing is a means of communicating your ideas and sharing your observations. Whether you are a professional artist or a beginner, life drawing is like exercise for your eyes, and everyone can benefit from it…
-
… During the Life Class you'll tackle a series of liberating exercises, designed to free you up and be honest about what you see. From blind drawing to negative spaces. You'll get to experiment with a range of materials, draw with chalk on sticks, practice measured drawing, tackle moving poses and find the model amongst a jumble of furniture.
Each week the group is given an exercise, but the critique is always individually focused, with no ‘right’, ‘wrong’ or ‘expected’ outcome, but rather a goal of individual development and original expression. So that beginners and practising artists alike are equally challenged and supported. The outcome being a continuous maturing of skill and confidence, in a relaxing and supportive environment.
We break for cups of tea and biscuits. I aim to end each session with some longer poses so that you have time to do your own thing and put what you've learnt into practice.

Designed to train you to really look and consider what you see. Working from direct observation, with yourself as the model, you will learn to relax and work freely, building confidence and enjoyment through experimentation and risk taking.
